School Technology Planning
Generally, school planning
takes place as part of our Partner School program. However, we do assist other schools or districts in building
infrastructure for both professional development and technology.
While most formal technology
plans begin and end with the technology itself, Media Workshop
consultants conduct comprehensive planning in terms of the
bigger picture, considering issues such as communication,
mission, media and technology resources, school-based and
community-based support, standards and staff development.
Media Workshop consultants assist district and school leaders
in the creation, implementation, and revision of flexible
yet focused, long-term technology plans that support specific
curriculum and instructional goals.
Further, our
experience shows there are multiple levels of structure, communication
and common vision that must be strengthened in order for schools
to take command of their new media and technology resources.
Media Workshop offers
a combination of services that include:
- Providing "needs
assessment' to determine appropriate focus for spending
- Developing and writing
technology/media plans including resource planning, appropriate
purchasing and technical support
- Facilitating planning
meetings among teaching staff, school and district leadership,
parents and community representatives.
- Organizaing school-wide
planning committees to develop curriculum
- Designing a strategic
staff development plans that is customized for the school's budget,
philosophy and individual staff needs and abilities.
