Hispanic Languages

The coordinator of the Hispanic Languages Department is Nelcy Lange. The courses that are offered by this department are: Nonnative and Native classes. There are two parts to the Nonnative Hispanic Languages classes. During the Nonnative beginner classes, the students will learn about food, the calendar, the city, health, and the home. The intermediate Hispanic Languages classes learn about travel, correspondence (writing to pen pals), and sports. In the Native classes the students read Hispanic Literature and learn about current events.

Science

Biology- The coordinator of the Biology Department is R. Singh. The courses currently offered in biology are: Regents Biology and Regents Biology Lab. The Living Environment curriculum investigates biology behind living things and the relationship between organisms and their environment.

Chemistry- The coordinator of the Chemistry Department is J. Knight. The courses currently offered in chemistry are: Regents Chemistry and Regents Chemistry Lab. The Chemistry curriculum allows students to investigate the world in its fundamental form: the interaction between molecules. Our study of molecules allows us to understand how the interaction between non-living molecules gives rise to living organisms.

English

The head of the English Department is currently undetermined. The courses currently offered from this department are: American Literature and Global Studies/Humanities. In the future they plan to offer Drama and Poetry after school.

Physical Education

The coordinator of the Physical Education Department is Terri Dendy. The courses that are currently offered through this department are: individual and team sports, dance, Tae-Bo, and self-defense. In the future they plan to offer swimming, CPR, first aid, aerobics, weight training, and more individual team sports.
