As you begin to create your illustrations, it will become crucial to save your work frequently. When you least expect it, computers can crash causing you to lose your work. It happens even to the best of us. There are different formats for saving pictures- we will be using two of them specifically. For the first time you save your work: 1. To save your work, open the File menu in the top menu bar. Choose Save As. Choose the folder in which you wish to save and give your file a name. Note: Do not use spaces, upper case letters, or punctuation marks; however, dashes ( - ) and underscores ( _ ) are okay. 2.Save your picture in a Photoshop format. This means your file name will end in *.psd
The reason we are saving the picture as a Photoshop format instead of a .gif or a .jpg is because we want to be able to continue editing the picture. For any other time you save: Simply go to the top menu bar and choose File --> Save. When your illustration is final/complete: 1. Go to File --> Save For Web. 2. Click on the Optimized Tab and make sure the settings are for a .gif. If you are confused, click here for a screen shot with instructions. 3. Click OK and then continue to save as normal. |
