Glenn Healy spends every February in Brazil training with the samba schools of Rio de Janeiro, where he has performed in over 20 carnival parades, with the baterias of many samba schools.

 
In addition to musical training, Glenn holds Bachelor and Masters degrees in psychology, has 15 years experience as a psychotherapist, speaks Portuguese and Spanish, and has lived, performed and taught in South America. Glenn is founder and director of the samba-based percussion ensemble Ginga Pura. (Ginga Pura appears on Romero Lubmambo's award-winning Aosis Records CD "Rio Underground".)

For over five years Glenn has been creating and leading drumming groups in NYC high schools and elementary schools. His unique combination of music, education and group therapy builds stress and anger management skills in an original and enjoyable way. He enjoys the challenge of helping students learn music and life skills at the same time, and making it fun and exciting. “It's the teacher's responsibility to be inventive in finding what technique works for each student. If no known approach works for this student, create a new approach.”
