File Management:

Objective:
To learn how to manage folders on your desktop using Microsoft Word.

  1. Open up Microsoft Word
  2. Select Times New Roman as your font
  3. Select 14 as your font size
  4. Type statements 1 - 8. Each statement should be placed in their own word document.
  5. Save each one directly onto your desktop by clicking on File/Save As. When the window pops up, save the document onto your desktop. Make sure you give it a name that is relevant to the information of the document being saved. You must also give it a name that will help you place it into a folder for further organization purposes. For example, if you had a paper that was about dogs, you would do File/Save As and choose dog as the name of your word document. Later, after you discover that you have documents about dogs, cats, whales, dolphins, snakes, lizards, etc. on your desktop, you should place such documents into a folder called mammals and a folder called reptiles. Otherwise, your desktop will be difficult to manage and it will be difficult to find things.
