Dear Parents:

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Carmen Munoz and I am the Parent Coordinator for Bayard Rustin Educational Complex.

I, as all of the newly appointed Parent Coordinators throughout New York City, am here to assist you in becoming involved in your child’s school community. I do realize that you lead busy lives at work or at home. However, it is imperative that you make the time to work with me on some level. There is great evidence that indicates that parental involvement leads to student academic success, and academic success enhances the lives of all parties involved.

I feel we are responsible for our children’s future and if we work together there is nothing we cannot over come. There is a saying, “it takes a whole village to raise one child.” This is your child’s village and it is not complete without your efforts. In order to accomplish this goal, it will require your assistance and the cooperation of everyone who engages in the students’ lives.

Further, The Educational Complex needs parents to participate in the Parent Association.

My role is one of support and collaboration in order to bring the entire school community together as a team. Active participation is the only way in reaching this goal. By increasing parent involvement, student academic achievement is maximized.

I look forward to meeting and working very closely with you throughout the school year. I can be reached by cell phone, at (347) 563-5108. Please do not hesitate to call or visit me.

Sincerely,

Carmen Munoz
Parent Coordinator
