Summer Reading Program

Student Recommendations

 

I. Why participate in the program?

  • Enrichment and enjoyment reading can bring.
  • Reading history will make you a better historian and writer.
  • Taking part in this program will look great on college applications, as you show, that you are a year round learning and are inquisitive and willing to go beyond the norm.
  • Summer reading is the norm at other prestigious high schools and these are the students you will have to compete with in college.
  • Gain credits towards your next semesters grades based on how many points you accumulate.

II. How do I participate in the program?

  • Just select a book from the list provided.
  • Pick it up from your local library.
  • Complete at least 10 quality log entries.
  • Answer the book review questions.
  • Attend after school seminar in September. (We discuss your books) Refreshments will be served, and certificates granted for attending the program.

III. What is everything due?

  • Submit log sheets and book reviews the first day of classes in September.
  • Book reviews will be returned at the seminar dates to be announced.
