Web-Based
Curriculum Projects
There are many different ways that the web can be used for curriculum
based projects. For instance, some teachers put their curriculum on-line
so that their students can access it after class has ended. Or, some teachers
search for curriculum that's already been put online and then utilize
that curriculum in their classroom. And still other teachers may decide
that they want their students to use the web to publish student projects.
By the end of this activity, you will have learned:
- different ways teacher have used the web for curriculum projects
- web quests
- online collaborative projects
- student publication
- other web-based curriculum projects
Agenda/Directions:
Teachers will break into groups of two or three.
Each group will be given approximately 20 minutes to explore in-depth
only ONE type of curriculum.
Be prepared to discuss your findings with the rest of the workshop
participants. Keep in mind these questions:
- What is the name/URL (address) of the web site you are looking at?
- What did you like/dislike about this web-based curriculum project?
- Is the web site designed well? Is it easy to navigate and read?
- Is the content reliable?
- Could you implement something similar to this in your classroom?
Why or why not?
