Introduction

Friends are very important to our lives. You can learn many things from friends.
Would you like to make new friends?  First, it will be your quest to discover the meaning of friends.
Then, you will meet two new pen pals.  As your quest concludes you will need to present your new friend to the class by
filling out a Friend Chart.
 

The Task

After discussing the story Friends in class by Taro Gomi you will now read the story Alecís Big Day by Miss Kitty. You will work with your partner to discover the following:

• Discover the meaning of friends by reading some poems about friendship
• Write a letter to two pen pals
• Complete a friend chart
• Then send your new friends a greeting card

The Process

Follow these steps to complete your quest:

• Read Alecís Big Day with your partner
• Read some poems about friendship and list three things that define the meaning of friendship.
• Write a letter that should include the following.
• Wait for your friend to respond. Then print their letter and then go to step 5.
• Print out the friend chart.and then write in your new friends information.
• The last step should be sending a greeting card to your new friend.
